  • Ian Weightman - President, IMS Research

    Ian Weightman

    Ian Weightman is the president of IMS Research. Having been involved with IMS Research since its foundation, Ian has extensive experience across the company, and is a long-standing member of the IMS Research Board of Directors. Ian is based in the company’s US headquarters in Austin, Texas, and oversees many of the company’s research groups as well as having executive management responsibility for the IMS Consultancy team and company's Conference Division.

    Ian has built a reputation as an insightful consultant, helping companies to improve their profitability by finding and developing new markets for their products. This will continue to be a focus area for Ian, who also has 17 years of experience in market analysis. He has authored numerous IMS reports including set-top boxes, digital television, home networks, semiconductors and sensors, as well as creating databases for set-top boxes, televisions and broadband access. Ian is a frequent speaker and moderator at conferences, and has presented at ANGA, the Bluetooth Summit, CES, Digital Hollywood, CSTB Moscow, IP Trends, SID, SMPTE and TV3.0.

    Ian holds a degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Aston University, England. He started his career at Texas Instruments where he worked in various technical marketing roles, achieving the position of European strategic marketing manager for ASIC products prior to joining IMS Research.

  • Simon Harris - Senior Director – Industrial Technology

    Simon Harris

    Simon joined IMS Research in 1993 as an analyst in the company's Semiconductor research group. In 1995 he spearheaded the company's diversification into end-equipment markets and established the company's Industrial Automation research group, which he managed until 2003. He subsequently established the company's Medical Electronics and Security & Fire research groups. Today, Simon is the research leader for IHS' Industrial Technology group, which includes research teams focussed on Industrial Automation, Security & Fire, Medical Electronics, Power Electronics, Metering & Energy Management, Financial & ID Technologies, M2M, Lighting & LEDs, Aerospace, Transport & Defence, Mobile Radio and Datacentres & Critical Infrastructure.

    Simon is actively involved in conducting research and analysis on the electronic security industry, where his particular area of expertise is the video surveillance market.

    Simon has many years of experience in conducting market research on high technology markets. He has authored numerous studies on a variety of electronic component and end-equipment markets at an international level, and undertakes custom research and strategy consultancy projects for some the world's largest technology providers.

    He is a frequent speaker at conferences around the world and is regularly asked to comment on the Industrial Technology market by both trade and national press.

    Simon holds a BEng. (honors) degree and a diploma in electronic engineering from Hull University, England. He is based in the company's headquarters in Wellingborough, UK.

  • Adrian Lloyd - Executive VP, IMS Research

    Adrian Lloyd

    Adrian joined IMS Research as an analyst working in the Industrial Research Division in 1996. He had previously worked at a machine builder in the rubber & plastics industry as an electrical engineer, thus bringing hands-on engineering expertise to the role. Today his role is varied, overseeing several key research groups in addition to being responsible for improving many aspects of the operational-side of the company’s business.

    In addition to offering a diverse area of expertise on factory automation in general, Adrian also actively assists in the development of the company’s Metering Group strategy. He is one of the most informed individuals on the subject of motors & motor control markets in industry, having authored the company’s recent in-depth offering in this area and being involved in tracking these markets since his initial employment with IMS Research. Adrian is also responsible for managing much of IMS Research’s Semiconductor business, and has helped develop key strategic products for the company such as its Comprehensive Microprocessing and Audio IC offerings.

    From an operational point of view, Adrian is increasingly involved in creating more effective and standardized research processes to improve analyst efficiency and statistical accuracy. This involves the development, documentation and teaching of a variety of model-based techniques. His broad experience and extensive understanding of a variety of market research techniques makes him well-suited to developing best statistical practice through all elements of the company’s business.
