About the event:
With data usage expected to continue its exponential growth, mobile data offloading is currently the most viable solution for operators to alleviate network congestion quickly, and adequately meet the capacity needs of their mobile broadband customers.
However, to fully leverage data offloading to Wi-Fi, small cells and femtocells, operators need to rethink their business and revenue models, optimise legacy networks and address a range of technical challenges associated with each of the different offloading solutions.
IIR’s Mobile Data Offloading conference has been designed to address the strategic, technical and commercial prerequisites and challenges associated with deploying the various data offloading technologies taking into account legacy systems, current business models and future network infrastructure build-out.
The event will also identify the optimum deployment scenarios for different offloading solutions and explore how they can be combined with existing alternatives, such as policy control and network optimisation efforts to further ensure seamless delivery of mobile broadband services and meet user expectations.
Confirmed speakers for Mobile Data Offloading 2012 include:
- Valerie Layan, VP Wireless, Colt Technology Services
- Dr Mohamed Nadder Hamdy, Director Capacity Planning, Etisalat
- Johannes Nabecker, Access and Transport Network Director, Si.mobil
- Geir Ove Jensen, Head of Femtocells, Network Norway
- Camillo Carlini, Engineer (Handsets Engineering for SME Corporate), Telecom Italia
- Adnan Salkic, Senior Consultant, Network Strategic Planning & Performance, STC

What will I learn?
- Embedding mobile data offloading in your long-term network strategy to reduce future Capex investments in LTE
- Determining which data offload option is best suited to meet your current and future capacity needs
- Avoiding data offloading becoming revenue offloading – understanding which data traffic to offload and which to monetise in order to protect mobile broadband profitability
- Assessing to what extent client-based managed Wi-Fi offload can contribute to easing network congestion
- Examining how small cell network architectures can enable WiFi offload in a metro environment
- Identifying and overcoming the backhaul challenges arising from the adoption of network offload technologies in hot zone areas
- Tackling the challenges involved in achieving seamless Wi-Fi authentication
- Providing core relief – assessing how mobile data offloading technology bypassing the core network can reduce Capex and Opex
- Examining the business case for offloading mobile data to Femtocells
- Combining Wi-Fi offloading with subscriber, service and policy control technologies to alleviate network congestion and provide a seamless customer experience
