Pole Position for Polar Electro
Date: 30 January 2008

Wellingborough, UK – 30th January 2008 – A unique report from InMedica analysing the market for sports-performance monitors, has found Polar Electro to be the world’s largest supplier.

InMedica estimated Polar Electro to have a share of approximately 30% of the total sports-performance monitors market, comprising cycling computers, heart-rate monitors, outdoor pursuits computers and running computers. Steven Burton, analyst at InMedica and author of the report, “The World Market for Sports-Performance Monitors,” commented, “Polar Electro has a market share of almost five times that of its nearest competitor, primarily due to its dominance in the market for heart-rate monitors that use a chest-strap, in which Polar Electro was a pioneer.” InMedica estimates that heart-rate monitors using a chest-strap now represent over 45% of the sports-performance monitors market.
